Deborah Weinstein: The Senate Lets Unemployment Benefits Expire.

As I type there are probably some Senate members who are taking in some rounds of golf…

Or a dip in the pool at their favorite country club…

Or a last minute trip to Paris…

While thousands of people’s unemployment benefits expire, at a time when the economy is still struggling, but slowly getting back on its feet.

But I digress…

Indeed, thousands of people’s unemployment is going to expire very soon. They were a part of the class of people who got the extension in 2009. The Senate failed to come to an agreement on how long, or which date the employment benefits should be extended to.

So while they are on their two-week vacation…200,000 plus people will run out of benefits.
